LETTER OF PROTEST FROM

Dear Mr Davier/Ms Dastoor,
It has come to our knowledge that the Executive Board of
the World Zoroastrian Congress 2000 is actively considering the participation
inter alia of Mr Ali Akbar Jafarey.
We have also learned through unimpeachable sources that the
Bombay Parsi Panchayat is also actively advocating FEZANA and the Executive
Board of the World Zoroastrian Congress to invite Mr Ali Akbar Jafarey as a
participant and is suggesting that Mr Jafarey be considered for an AWARD for his
'contributions' to the Zarathustrian Religion.
We, the undernamed organisations, wish to put on record our
PROTEST in the strongest terms against any such move by the Executive Committee
of the WZC 2000.
It is our considered and collective view that, if any
single individual is responsible for creating tremendous damage to the tenets of
our pristine pure Religion, its efficacious and time-honoured practices and the
faith of those unsuspecting individuals born into it but who fall prey to this
mischief, it is Mr Jafarey. His lists of misdeeds is long, disgusting and
vulgar, to say the least. Though we are sure you are aware of them, some of them
are given below for your information :
1 Calling Asho
Zarathushtra "not an Athravan", "not a Prophet" and "an
anti-priest".
2 Calling
"Hormazd Yasht a "Forgery"
3 Calling our
consecrated "Nirang" : "Bull-piss"
4 Branding our
sacred "Hem" : "Wisdom-wasting drink"
5 Demeaning
our Sudreh-Kushti
6 Calling our fire temples "Precincts for prostitution", his dirty, filthy, twisted mind putting forth the argument that women did not go to the fire temples during their menses because prostitution was practised by priests there.
7 Constantly pouring scorn on our sacred scriptures and
prayers
8 Wrongly translating and ridiculing our holy Vendidad and
calling it "Un-Zarathushtrian'', thus misguiding the community
9 Calling pious Dasturan Dastur Aderbad Maraspend (who was
of the rank of a 'Rainidar' (Saviour) and who preserved our religion and our
sacred scriptures) who underwent the trial of molten metal without his body
being hurt: "Publicity Stunt and a trick"
10 Referring to himself as a RATU (A Spiritual Leader)
which title is reserved for Asho Zarathushtra
11 Performing Navjotes of JUDDINS though he is not an
ordained Mobed, being himself a Muslim
12 Purporting to convert JUDDINS to the Zarathushtrian
faith in spite of there being a clear religious injunction against it
13 Establishing the Gatha-Alone-Cult with emphasis only on
his perverted version of the Gathas and dismissing the rest of our scriptures
In the Parsiana of October 1991, it was claimed that he
obtained his Doctorate in Persian literature from Karachi. This claim has been
debunked by the University of Karachi exposing yet another of his lies.
He has spared no efforts to create a rift in the community
thanks to his dangerous and perverted preachings. Thus he has only done
DISSERVICE to the community and it is our considered view that he is UNWORTHY of
any award, now or in future. It is our belief that Mr Jafarey must be
permanently restrained from appearing at any Zarathushtrian forum or assembly.
This will also prevent his perverted views gaining legitimacy and will stop the
spread of disinformation to present and future generations of Zarathushtis.
Our noble forefathers left no stone unturned to ensure the
survival of the community at great personal cost. They gave the Zarathushti
Religion and community a future by sacrificing their sweat and blood. Let us not
dishonour their revered memories by submitting to the whims and fancies of the
likes of Jafarey and his ilk.
We hope good sense prevails and you, along with other
concerned members, take appropriate action for the sake of preserving our
precious Mazdayasni Zarathushti Daena.
