The following three are only sample postings from Mr.
Jafarey, which have offended us deeply.
Letter No. 1: Saturday, May 31, 1997:
This letter attacks our religious belief that menstruating
women should not visit our fire temples. It also seriously attacks our faith in
our priests by implying that our fire temples used to have temple prostitutes
serving the priests.
...However, temple prostitution meant going to temples only
during the period they could sexually serve men. Menstruation kept them away
from going to temples and participating in the "holy rite", an act
which is the main SOURCE of the menstrual taboos still observed by many
tradition-bound communities. Passage of time has exaggerated once the natural
absence from attending their temple "duty" of sensually entertaining
priests and pilgrims, to the much "abhorred uncleanliness" of the
menstrual period and segregation of later days when the 'real" reason for
not attending temple services was forgotten and fables were woven to justify the
segregation .....

Letter No. 2: Sunday, August 17, 1997:
This letter attacks our ancient ceremony of Izashne
performed for the benefit of the souls of our dear departed, where the Haoma
ritual takes place and implying that it was concocted by mobeds for their own
benefit.
... Whatever the true identity of original haoma/soma, the
ceremony resembles much the present practice of solemnly pounding bhang (Indian
hemp, hashish, marijuana), extracting and straining its juice, and mixing it
with water, milk, poppy seeds, and almonds by sufis, faqirs, pirs, sadhus, and
other Muslim and Hindu mystics of certain orders and circles in Iran,
Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India, particularly those connected-with shrines and
holy places. It still has a halo around it! ...
... The traditional priests brought in their age-old haoma
cult into the Good Religion. This time it was not "BHANG" or another
strong intoxicant ....

Letter No. 3: Monday, October 16, 1995
This letter implies that the Hormuzd Yasht, which
Zarathushtis pray regularly with devotion was fabricated by mobeds to elevate
their status.
... "in Iran, the conditions were very favorable. The aathravans rose, quietly replaced the maanthrans and the magavans, and became the highest authority so much so that they even claimed Zarathushtra was an aathravan This was not enough. They even put words into Ahura Mazda's mouth that he too was an aathravan, nay aathravatema, the supreme aathravan. The entire Avesta, including the Gathas and their supplements in the Gathic dialect, a dialect different from their own, was claimed to be the aathravan composition, the divine composition revealed by the supreme aathravan Ahura Mazda, to an ever-asking aathravan Zarathushtra." ...
